Final Exam Prompt

Alternative Assignment

Hi Folks,

I’ve just written up an assignment sheet for an alternative assignment to the revision piece for Assignment #6. Take a look at the below document, and get back to me if you’d like to go this route.

Alternative Assignment

Another Quick Reminder-Journals

Hi Folks,

I wanted to send you another quick reminder about journals. I only asked you to complete two of them, and one isn’t in our original schedule. The first I wanted you to complete is Journal #7 (in our schedule):

Why did you choose a the specific article for assignment #4 as opposed to the others? What rhetorical strategies does the author use that you find worthy of further explo- ration in your textual rhetori- cal analysis? Provide specific examples (at least five) of these strategies, and make the reasons for your interest clear.

The second journal (we’ll call it Journal #8, even though it’s different from the one listed in your schedule) was presented in class, and the prompt read like this: What do you find most beautiful in the world? What do you value most in the world? What would an ideal farm look like for you (as a consumer or farmer or hobby farmer or absentee landowner–whatever is easiest for you to imagine)? What, for you, would an ideal food system (a farm is one part of the food system, but it also includes centers for retail, centers of distribution, types and grades of food goods [i.e., natural vs. organic vs. local vs. non-local, and so forth], as well as modes of exchange among individuals) look like?

Hand these two journals in, along with your portfolio, during the final exam period.

Assignment #5, Leading Discussion

Hi Folks, below is a link to the leading discussion assignment sheet for Assignment #5:

Leading Discussion for Assignment #5

During class on Monday the 30th, we’ll take about 15 minutes to do course evals., and then we’ll eat some goodies (you can bring a homemade treat or healthy snack to share with classmates for a little extra credit [1.5 points added to your overall grade at the end of the semester]). We’ll also take some time to go over the assignment sheet for our final portfolio or alternative assignment (I’ll present the two options to you in class).

Assignment #5 Reminders:

  1. Send me a link to your group’s video proposal no later than 12 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 28th. However, if you run into any issues, and need a small extension,  let me know (the earlier the better).
  2. Presentations will happen on both December 2nd and December 4th. Be ready to go on both days.
  3. Upload your video to Youtube:
  4. or Vimeo
